Launching a homestead can be hard, growing and running it can be even harder. Homesteading, even in its most simplest form can be an exciting and overwhelming adventure, one that seems to require skills we often have never heard of, much less know.
When you combine the skills gap that was left in the previous generations with the fact that a majority of new homesteaders in America are first generation and often moving from a more metropolitan area, you can see why we are in desperate need of mentorship. The great news is that, what many new homesteaders lack in skills and knowledge, they make up for in grit and determination. Whether your dream of homesteading comes from a desire for self sufficiency, a slower life, a deep call to prepare for the future, or to heal the land and return to a more ancestral agrarian lifestyle, I know what you're going through and I want to help.
Guessing your way forward can end in costly mistakes, and often the lives of animals, but following the lead of someone who has been there, and can walk you through it, can have a huge impact on your journey and help prevent unnecessary time and financial losses.
Hi, my name is Valerie and I first stepped foot on my 36 acre homestead in 2013, having driven 3 days from Southern California. I'd never seen or been to Missouri prior to that moment, and after spending weeks convincing my neighbors I was in fact NOT a communist, I settled quickly into my homestead goals and dreams.
I have spent the past 12 years milking cows, selling raw milk, selling organically raised beef direct to market, while raising goats, sheep, chickens, guinea's, ducks, dogs, and cattle. I know what it's like to start from the ground up. I've been there, I've done that, and I'd love to show you the way. Let me help you find the next right move.
